Dear Park Alumni,
The Frances Fishburn Archives and Special Collections staff continues to research our veteran students (e.g., may not have graduated) and alumni from World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. Permit me to provide some figures to date, but please remember we continue to research daily our veteran servicemembers: World War II—481 served with 21 Killed In Action; Korea—105 served with none Killed in Action; and Vietnam—201 served with 2 Killed In Action.
I write seeking your assistance related to any branch of service:
• Name(s) of any classmate(s) (student or alumni) that served during these three conflicts.
• Name(s) of any classmate(s) (student or alumni) that were Killed In Action or were/are POWs.
• Special Requests:
o Name(s) of any female classmates (student or alumni) that served in any branch of service during these three conflicts. Information needed would be first name, maiden name, married name, and class year if known. The staff is considering designing a permanent exhibit for our female veterans and we don’t want to miss an individual.
o The staff is open to accepting military-related artifacts from students, alumni, or family members of our veteran servicemembers.
Information should be emailed to [email protected].
Greatly appreciate your assistance.
Sincerely,
Timothy C. Westcott, Ph.D.
