Growth - Global Relay Of Observatories Watching Transients Happen

Growth - Global Relay Of Observatories Watching Transients Happen The sun never rises on the GROWTH network of telescopes!12 partners,17 observatories & a Universe full of exotic transient events waiting to be discovered!

GROWTH is an international scientific project, led by Caltech aiming to advance science and improve education in time-domain astronomy. We coordinate observations at astronomical facilities across the world to follow and better understand fast cosmic events like supernovae explosions, which give birth to all heavy elements, neutron star and black hole mergers, which can produce gravitational wave

s, and near-earth fast-moving asteroids that can be potentially damaging. As we advance our scientific knowledge, we will also use our facilities & data to develop curriculum and teaching techniques that can lead to evidence-based, research-driven education in time-domain astronomy as well as closely related STEM fields.

Our INSAIT undergraduate summer research fellowship program is now open for applications. Motivated undergraduate students from around the world are welcome to apply. Modelled after similar programs at ETH Zurich, MIT and Caltech, selected students will conduct research at the frontier of computer science & AI under the supervision of world class advisors from INSAIT. A monthly stipend of 1500EUR & travel funding is also included. Learn more at http://insait.ai/surf

The discovery, characterisation, and monitoring of Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) are critical for understanding and potentially mitigating the long-term threats to our civilisation from Potential Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs). Current survey telescopes have a sensitivity of around 20–21 magnitude, which ...
