πŸ’™πŸŽ Dining with Diabetes – Lesson 1! πŸ“πŸ₯—

We had a great first session of our Dining with Diabetes class! Our participants learned so much about living well with diabetes and the importance of knowing and managing their health numbers.

During our first lesson, we discussed:

🩺 The difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
πŸ“Š Why keeping your A1C at 7% or below is an important goal for many people with diabetes
❀️ The importance of knowing your numbers and understanding what they mean
🫘 How diabetes can affect important organs, including the kidneys, and why good blood sugar management matters

And, of course, we ended the class on a sweet and healthy note! πŸ“πŸ«πŸ₯„ Participants made a delicious Fruit & Yogurt Parfait, showing that making healthier choices can still be tasty and enjoyable!

πŸ“£ Would you like to bring Dining with Diabetes to your church or small group?

πŸ₯’πŸŽΆ What a fantastic day of learning, laughter, and canning! 🎢πŸ₯’

Our β€œPickle with Jazz!” Bread & Butter Pickles Workshop was a huge success! Participants learned the basics of safe home canning while creating their very own delicious jars of homemade Bread & Butter Pickles.

From slicing fresh cucumbers and preparing the brine to packing jars and processing them in the canner, everyone had the opportunity to get hands-on experience. The smiles, teamwork, and excitement made this class one to remember!

A big thank you to everyone who attended and made this workshop such a fun and educational event. We hope you enjoy your homemade pickles and feel inspired to continue preserving fresh foods at home.

A special thank you to Asbury Chapel AME Zion Church for graciously allowing us to use your Educational Building and kitchen. Your generosity and hospitality made this hands-on learning experience possible, and we sincerely appreciate your continued support of community education.

We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Mississippi State University Extension Service for providing educational opportunities that empower individuals and families with practical food preservation skills.

πŸ“Έ Enjoy a few highlights from our workshopβ€”we had an amazing time learning, preserving, and making memories together!
