UNC-Pembroke Police & Public Safety recently partnered with instructors from Robeson Community College’s BLET program to conduct a Shoot/No Shoot simulation with members of the Criminal Justice Club.

This hands-on scenario based training challenged participants to think critically, make split-second decisions, and better understand the complexities law enforcement officers face in the field. It was a great opportunity to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world application.

We appreciate the collaboration and engagement from everyone involved in making this exercise a success!

Last week, UNC Police & Public Safety was proud to take part in the Clear Minds, Good Vibes: Mocktail Mix-Off!

We enjoyed serving hot dogs while connecting with our campus community, and hosting an impaired driving simulation to promote safe choices.

Thank you to all of our campus partners and everyone who came out to support!

National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week!

This week, we pause to recognize the true first responders—the voices behind the line.
Public safety telecommunicators are the calm in the chaos, the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the critical link between those in need and those who respond. Every call answered is a life touched. Every decision made is done with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

While their work is often unseen, its impact is immeasurable. Long hours, high stress, and split-second decisions are all part of the job—but so is the commitment to serve, protect, and care for our communities.

To every telecommunicator: thank you for your sacrifice, your strength, and your service. Your voice makes a difference every single day.
We see you. We appreciate you. And this week, we honor you.

UNC Police & Public Safety, with the help of the Pembroke Police Department, teamed up with the Criminal Justice Club to provide students with a unique, hands-on learning experience through mock traffic stops.

This collaboration gave students the opportunity to see real-world law enforcement procedures up close, ask questions, and gain practical insight into officer safety, communication, and decision-making during traffic stops.

We’re proud to work alongside the Criminal Justice Club to help prepare the next generation of criminal justice professionals.

We want to encourage everyone to stay at home and enjoy the beautiful snow. Please stay off the roads if at all possible. Conditions may appear to improve this afternoon but temperatures will drop again this evening causing hazardous travel tonight and tomorrow morning.

We want to give a shout out to all of our UNCP partners, including the essential staff and and contractors from Campus Housing, Facilities, Student Affairs, and Aramark, for braving the weather to show up and ensure that the critical infrastructure and services needed to support our students are operational.

A special thank you to all of our UNCP Police officers and staff who worked during the snow storm last night and to those who are working today to keep the UNCP community safe.

Hope that you enjoy the beautiful pictures of campus that our staff captured earlier today.

Stay safe, BraveNation!!
