Congrats to the Argos' Edible Campus gardeners!!

Join us in congratulating the Argos' Edible Campus team for winning the HIP Student Showcase Best Service Learning & Best Collaborative Project Awards at the Student Scholars Symposium on 4/15!

The Argos' Edible Campus program provides access to fresh fruits, nuts, and vegetables across campus: free for any student to harvest! 1 in 12 UWF students visit the Argo Pantry every year. In addition to the Argo Pantry and the UWF Community Garden, the Argos' Edible Campus program is part of UWF's response to food insecurity on our campus. We aim to remove the stigma of food insecurity by empowering students to get involved with growing their own food.

The UWF student body faces the ongoing issue of Food Insecurity. Nearly 30% of undergraduate students at UWF consider themselves food insecure while a quarter of students nationally are at risk of being food insecure.

Locally, 13.6% of Escambia County is food insecure. Argos’ Edible Campus aim to help address this problem through increasing awareness of this issue while also planting more edible plants throughout the UWF campus.
