Get out for a walk! Going for regular walks can have an array of benefits such as improving circulation, supporting joints, and strengthening muscles. Consider walking around your neighborhood, on a treadmill, on a trail or at the beach. Keeping track of your steps can be a great motivator for daily walks. Try for 8,000-10,000 steps per day. Track them using a fitness watch, pedometer, or steps tracking app such as Pacer.

The week of June 15th – June 21st is Men’s Health Week. This week is a time to discuss and bring awareness to health issues that disproportionately affect men. According to the Men’s Health Forum the focus of last year’s Men’s Health Week was diabetes which can occur more severely in men causing a higher number of amputations in these cases. The focus of this health week is to raise awareness of the presence of diabetes, cholesterol, prostate, colorectal cancer and other diseases that may affect men and to encourage them to continue to get their annual physical checkups for early diagnosis and treatment. Lastly, it is a way to encourage men to be open in discussing any health issues or health concerns. Remember! Early diagnosis and early treatment often end in a better outcome for our health!
