On February 14, 2026, the University of West Florida hosted the Marks Invitational. 8 schools from 6 different states participated, with over 40 students and over 100 competitive events taking the stage. UWF had a great showing and is proud to announce the following placings.

-Charlie Kern, Kaylyn Allen, and Libby Hutchison were pentathlon competitors. This unique award recognizes students who compete in five competitive events, making this the top overall speaking award a student can receive at a tournament.

Charlie Kern- 1st Place Pentathlon, 2nd Place After Dinner Speaking, 1st Place Impromptu Speaking, 3rd Place Informative Speaking, 4th Place Program Oral Interpretation,

The Spring Semester is upon us! On January 9th and 10th, UWF co-hosted and competed in the third installment of the Sunshine Series. This is a set of free online competitions, co-hosted by the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, and the University of West Florida. This competition was attended by 14 different colleges across 3 time zones, and had 55 total students in competition. We had several standout student performances:

Libby Hutchinson- Quarterfinalist in IPDA Debate
Mea Brahier- 1st Place in Communication Analysis, 6th Place in Impromptu Speaking
Asher Anderson- 2nd Place in After Dinner Speaking, 5th Place in Impromptu Speaking
Kaylyn Allen- 2nd Place in Programmed Oral Interpretation.
Tuesday Williams- 4th Place in After Dinner Speaking
Daphne Deckbar- 6th Place in Informative Speaking
Charlie Kern- 5th Place in Informative Speaking, 7th Place in Programmed Oral Interpretation.

What a season!
UWF is home from the 2024 Pi Kappa Delta Biennial Convention and Tournament. Here are the results!

-Elizabeth Royappa has been named Pi Kappa Delta All-American. This an enormous honor given to only ten students every season.

-Elizabeth also won Top Superior awards in Persuasive Speaking and Impromptu Speaking, as well as Excellence Awards in After Dinner Speaking, Discussion, and Interviewing. Elizabeth was selected to perform Persuasive Speaking and Impromptu Speaking in the showcase.

-Michaela Jacobs won a Superior Award in After Dinner Speaking, and was selected to perform in the showcase.

-Asher Anderson won a Superior Award in After Dinner Speaking and an Excellence Award in Broadcast Journalism

-Anthony Ruse won an Excellence Award in Communication Analysis

-Julien Freeman won an Excellence Award in Broadcast Journalism.

Excellence Awards signify finishing in the top 30% of competitors, while Superior Awards signify finishing in the top 10%. Top Superior is an award given to the highest-ranking competitor in an event. As a program, UWF was awarded a team excellence award in individual events.
