DYK this is National Veterinary Assistant Week???

While there are no accredited programs in the United States, there are approved Assistant programs through NAVTA. High schoolers can enroll in VA courses and there are approved online programs available to adults, as well.

Veterinary assistants enable Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians to complete advanced procedures and VAs are essential to the veterinary healthcare team.

VAs can further their formal nursing education by pursuing an Associates or Bachelor degree in veterinary technology, or apply to veterinary college with a four-year undergraduate degree. Starting with a VA program can prepare students for the rigors of a formal veterinary nursing program.
