Congrats to History and Social Studies Education major Kaitlyn Morrison as she celebrates the completion of her year as a Ray and Kathy LaHood Scholar!

Earlier this week, our 2023-24 Ray and Kathy LaHood Scholarship recipients had the opportunity to join Secretary LaHood for lunch and conversation. We're so proud of Bradley University students Kaitlyn Morrison and Joanna Franco for all they've accomplished!

Morrison, of Pekin, graduates this week with a degree in history and social studies secondary education with a concentration in difference, identity, and power. She'll be joining the social studies faculty in Dunlap School District #323, where she just completed her student teaching. She'll begin her career by teaching a summer-school government / civics class.

Franco, of Montgomery, graduates this week with a degree in political science. Her work this past year included utilizing Dirksen Center archives on research that's been submitted for consideration for publication in an undergraduate journal. She'll be continuing her education by attending law school.

The scholarships have been offered annually at Bradley since 2007 to rising seniors who plan careers connected to government or public service.

Kaitlyn Morrison, a senior History and Social Studies Secondary Education major with minors in Women’s & Gender Studies and Anthropology, was recently interviewed by Tim Shelly from WCBU at the Virginius H. Chase Special Collections Center of the Cullom-Davis Library for her LAS Summer Research Fellowship.

Researchers at Bradley University's Virginius H. Chase Special Collections Center are sifting through than a century's worth of archives from the Peoria Young Women's Christian Association.

This past Wednesday was a big day for the Bradley’s History Department at the 2023 LAS Honors Ceremony. Senior Lia Znaniecki was the recipient of the 2023 History Department Award. Recent winter graduate Ginger Hermann was the recipient of the 2023 Religious Studies Department Award. Additionally, junior Kaitlyn Morrison was acknowledged for being recently selected as one of the recipients for the 2023 Undergraduate Summer Research & Artistry Fellowship. Pictured is one of Kaitlyn’s faculty mentors, Dr. Libby Tronnes, who will be assisting her with her project this summer. Dr. Tronnes is the Head of Special Collections in the Cullom-Davis Library, where Kaitlyn is also a student worker. Congratulations to all three of these amazing students and thank you for always making the History Department proud! We will surely miss our graduating students!
