Our Foster College student organizations are off to a strong start this semester. The Bradley chapters of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Women In Business (WIB), and Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO), held a combined event to share the mission of each organization and discuss upcoming activities this Fall. Students also worked on making vision boards to prepare for a successful semester. We are looking forward to what comes next for our students and student organizations.

Classes may be back in session, but we still have some great summer intern stories to share. Today, we are featuring Brock Carver, a senior Personal Financial Planning major and Accounting and Marketing minor. Brock spent his summer internship with WestPoint Financial Group as a Financial Services Intern, analyzing client situations, evaluating goals, risk tolerance, and asset allocation, in order to shape strategies aligned with both current needs and long-term objectives. He built comprehensive mock financial plans that integrated retirement planning, insurance needs, and investment growth, while gaining exposure to tools and products used every day in the industry.πŸ“ˆ

Brock shares, "One of the most valuable parts of the experience was seeing how much trust and communication drive this business. Sitting in on client conversations, working through case studies, and helping prepare recommendations reinforced that financial planning is just as much about relationships as it is about numbers. I stepped beyond the classroom and began thinking like an advisor, which meant learning how real financial decisions impact real people."πŸ’΅

Congratulations on making the most of the summer, Brock. We know this is only the start of even better things to come in your career.πŸ‘

Summer is a terrific time for our students to enhance their Bradley experience with travel and professional development. This year, accounting majors Maya Redman, Ella Wight, and Jeff Sary, traveled with their faculty advisor, Professor Heather Longfellow, to the Beta Alpha Psi annual meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, joining more than 800 students from 140 chapters in the United States, New Zealand, and Australia.✈️

The students participated in numerous professional sessions from top CPA firms and industry partners and learned from expert keynote speakers. They also watched the winning best practices presentations and will apply what they learned to compete at the regional meeting in March 2027.πŸ§‘β€πŸ’Ό

The students all had professional headshots taken, courtesy of the conference. They also had the chance to attend a Baltimore Orioles game and see a little of Charm City.⚾
