Attention! Skills Lab will this Wednesday (10/15) at 6pm in Salazar 2008. Adam will be hosting and we will be learning about the SEM. "The ability to see the microscopic is an amazing feat that can be accomplished with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Come learn how this machine works and its applications in learning about the extremely small, including viewing samples of anodized aluminum nanopores."

All interested parties are invited! And there will be a treat for attending (to be consumed on the way out of the lab!)

We have extra tickets available to see Phil Plait's Death from the Skies talk at the Cooperage 8 pm Friday 11/1 - free but you have to promise you will really attend! See Prof. Cominsky over at NASA if you want one (or two). (SPS members already volunteering are getting one anyway, but if you have a friend who wants to go, this is their big chance!)

************ Job Opportunities in Engineering Science Department **********
The Advanced Internet Technologies in the Interests of Society Laboratory (AITIS Lab) at the Department of Engineering Science is currently accepting applications for two paid Research Assistant positions in the following areas:
- Application of an Environmental Sensor Network (ESN) in Fairfield Osborn Preserve
- Applications of accelerometers in body position monitoring

The positions are funded until December 2014 and both graduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to travel and attend at least one conference. The positions are available immediately.

Qualifications:
- Have a good background in electronics, programing, and be familiar with basic micro-controller/embedded systems
- Be a quick learner, self-motivated, and enthusiastic about research
- Posses good organizational and time management skills
