Penn Blockchain

Penn Blockchain Undergraduate and graduate/MBA organization for blockchain and crypto-curious students at the Univers We seek a willingness to dive into the space at depth.

Penn Blockchain is the leading undergraduate, graduate, and MBA student organization at the University of Pennsylvania seeking to onboard students to blockchain, crypto, and Web3 landscape. We engage with the broader ecosystem via institutional and industry partnerships, which fuel our initiatives in education, strategy, and research. Penn Blockchain serves as a stepping stone toward direct involv

ement and recruitment. Students undergo the education program as an opportunity to analyze the emerging Web3 market as well as fundamental concepts in mechanism design and finance as applied to blockchain. The program is designed for those entering the club and does not require previous experience. Students are then invited to join committees, where upperclassmen guide members to develop skill sets in smart contract development, VC investment, DeFi/yield/MEV trading strategy, quantitative research, and governance. Penn Blockchain additionally hosts a semesterly Wharton Advisory Board course on Blockchain and the annual Wharton Penn Blockchain Conference, as well as cross-university trading and hackathon competitions. COMMITTEES:
Our most exciting new initiative is governance, accessible to ALL club members. We’ve been delegated voting power to vote and propose changes to the biggest DeFi platforms.
Specific committees:
1. Business Development: Source sponsors, create career boards, organize fun social events, and build deep industry connections. Last semester, we ran a Conference where club members got to interview Mark Cuban, CEO of largest exchange Binance Changpeng Zhao, SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, Coinbase Head of Exchange Vishal Gupta, and CEO of first crypto VC Pantera Capital Dan Morehead.
2. Research: Write research reports for companies on the market, create novel innovations such as NFT fractionalization, specific protocol designs, and token economics/valuations.
3. Trading: Build an algorithmic trading bot, learn trading strategies, find arbitrage opportunities, and run a trading competition. Help run nodes with the Stevens Center Blockchain Lab. NOTE: We do not conduct actual trading with club funds.
4. Education: Teach blockchain fundamentals, and basic blockchain programming courses.

Penn Blockchain is doing early recruiting! The club is open to all undergrads, MBAs, and grads.
Blockchain isn’t just finance. NFTs enable music royalties, gaming metaverse, and digital artwork. Blockchain identity enables social networking applications, privacy, and COVID vaccine passports.
Our main differentiator from other clubs is that, in the blockchain industry, since everything is super early, decentralized, and open-source there is huge opportunity for grassroots communities like university students to have a tangible, real-world impact. Rather than say, doing a stock pitch in the circle of a small club meeting, Penn Blockchain members can find themselves leading public discussions on adding new features to Uniswap ($30b crypto trading application), publishing research for large companies with tens of thousands of Twitter followers, or interviewing Mark Cuban.
