Meet Amol Kohli, a Drexel graduate who went from earning $5/hour as a teenage Friendly’s waiter to becoming owner and chairman of the entire Friendly’s restaurant chain!

Amol Kohli was once a busboy and waiter at Friendly's, the Wilbraham, Massachusetts-based restaurant chain he now owns under his investment group Legacy Brands.

Meet API Dragon: Ankur Shah ‘08 👋🏽

“My time at Drexel played a significant and foundational role in my career; it was during my undergraduate education that I realized the many ways in which one can impact the world. It was through great mentors at the Bennett S. Lebow College of Business that I realized I wanted to be in an academic setting where I could help others in the way my mentors helped guide my path. The relationships I built with peers and mentors at Drexel have continued to influence my professional journey, providing a network of support and collaboration that has enriched my career in medicine.”

While I am deeply honored by the recognition and achievements in my career, I believe my greatest accomplishment lies in the impact I’ve had on my patients’ lives and the aspiring nephrologists I’ve mentored.

Meet Jimmy Hoac 👋 — BS Mechanical Engineering ’10, now a Senior Project Engineer at Lockheed Martin (King of Prussia, PA).

Drexel’s co-op didn’t just pad his résumé — it opened doors and shaped how he gives back.

“It has opened more doors due to the co-op experience, and I have been able to help out the next generation of business and engineering majors through business case competitions.”

Before Lockheed, Jimmy spent nearly a decade at Boeing, leading wire-installation engineering for commercial and defense aircraft and pushing AR/VR wearables on the shop floor to boost quality and cut cost. Earlier chapters included CDI Aerospace, GSK, and co-ops at Siemens and C.A. Spalding—plus hands-on work with West Philadelphia Hybrid on the X-Prize team. The throughline: build, improve, mentor.
