Dr. Stacia West, co-founder of SP2's Center for Guaranteed Income Research (CGIR), was featured in a recent Associated Press story exploring the philanthropic legacy of Dolly Parton.

Drawing on her research of Parton's My People Fund, which provided unconditional cash assistance to families affected by the 2016 Tennessee wildfires, West reflected on what made Parton's approach to giving so impactful. At a time when direct cash assistance was far less common, Parton trusted people to know what they needed most.

West told the AP: “The piece that really carries forward is her belief in the goodness of people and her ability to apply that to seemingly difficult problems.”
