The Mantua Theater Project (MTP) is running a Summer Program for young people between the ages of 7-13 to write short plays using the wonders of their imagination. Drexel Theatre Program Director Nick Anselmo is the Executive Director and β€œPlaymaking” instructor for MTP and is working alongside five Drexel Alumni, seven current Drexel students, and adjunct faculty member David Lee White to teach these young students the basic tenets of playwriting. The goal of this program is to help students understand that they have something important to say, and if they use their creativity and trust themselves, they can achieve great things. At the end of the 8 classes, the young playwrights will each have completed a fun short play that shows the world just how amazing they are. Drexel plans to partner with The Mantua Theater Project to produce these shows this fall and stream them online for everyone to see. This program is creative, fun, and focused on building a child’s self-esteem through the use of their imaginations. You can learn more about the Mantua Theater Project and watch videos of past shows on their website www.mantuatheaterproject.com

Margaux Cattelona is a rising senior studying Entertainment and Arts Management with minors in Business Administration and Nonprofit Communication. She is on a theatre production scholarship and is the current General Manager for the Co-Op Theatre Company. This summer Margaux is working with Tiny Dynamite, a small nonprofit theatre company based in the city. Her internship involves researching development opportunities, updating artist contracts, creating budget scenarios for the next fiscal year, and assisting in the grant writing process. Working with an emerging nonprofit is exciting for Margaux because she hopes to be a General Manager for a nonprofit theatre company or work for a foundation distributing resources to nonprofit organizations like Tiny Dynamite one day.
