Communicating effectively across cultures and communities is essential to advancing public health, yet it’s also one of the most complex parts of our work. In ‘Communicating with Diverse Communities’, we’ll explore how culture, values, beliefs, and communication styles shape the way health messages are received, understood, and acted upon.
This session brings together two Delta Omega members with experience designing and delivering communication that resonates across diverse populations.
Sasha Bernard, from Delta Omega’s Kappa chapter at Loma Linda University School of Public Health, will focus on the role of culture, health literacy, and inclusive messaging in reducing health disparities and building trust. She’ll share practical strategies for creating health communication that is culturally responsive and effective.
Yawei Song and Munjireen Sifat, from the Delta Psi chapter at Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Population Health, will build on this foundation by discussing how to tailor messages for diverse audiences, drawing on real-world examples of implementation in public health practice.
