Placing our students with community partners like Adelante gives them the opportunity to see firsthand the impact of accessible, community-centered care and to learn from the dedicated teams serving individuals and families every day.

Jennilin Boone spent 20 years caring for critical care patients, but her next dream was to become a nurse educator. When financial challenges made that goal seem out of reach, a scholarship to ASU’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation’s Master of Science in nursing (nursing education) program made it possible.

As Arizona faces an ongoing nursing shortage, programs like this are helping strengthen the state’s health care workforce. Now, Jennilin manages Northern Arizona University’s nursing simulation lab, where she’s helping prepare the next generation of nurses.

“I found my voice as a nurse,” she says. “I found my confidence, my ability to advocate, and so giving that to other people in mass quantities is really exciting to me.”

Today, Edson College was thrilled to welcome our new Doctor of Nursing Practice students!

Through the DNP program, these experienced nurses will take their career to the highest level, becoming advanced clinicians and leaders equipped with the skills to drive change, advocate for the profession and improve health care.

Congratulations to Edson College Professor Fang Yu on receiving a $599,059 Healthcare Improvement grant from Eli Lilly to advance a clinical pathway designed to help patients with early Alzheimer's disease move more quickly from diagnosis to treatment in primary care.

Many patients face multiple appointments, referrals, insurance approvals and scheduling steps that can be fragmented and confusing. This clinical pathway will help change that by creating a standard, easy-to-follow roadmap for primary care teams, helping patients and their caregivers get to the right next step without unnecessary delays.

The project will also work to support Spanish-speaking patients and those facing transportation or scheduling barriers.

The clinical pathway has the potential to improve the patient experience, reduce delays and help more people receive timely Alzheimer's care.

New first-year enrollment at Edson College has increased on every one of our campuses this fall, as we continue to offer quality programs that prepare graduates for in-demand careers in nursing and health care.

Arizona State University enrolled more than 200,000 students during the 2025–26 school year, surpassing that enrollment milestone for the first time in university history.
