Meet Fort Pierre Mayor Greg Kenzy! 👋

A lifelong Fort Pierre resident, Mayor Kenzy has spent decades building, serving, and giving back to the community he’s proud to call home.

From 52 years of experience in construction to 50 years serving with the Fort Pierre Fire Department, his dedication to Fort Pierre runs deep. He and his wife built their home in Fort Pierre 50 years ago, raised three children, and now enjoy nine grandchildren, five of whom live right here in the Pierre/Fort Pierre area.

After joining the Fort Pierre City Council in 2019, Mayor Kenzy was elected Mayor in 2026. With a lifetime of experience and a strong connection to the community, he looks forward to continuing to serve Fort Pierre and its residents.

👋 Meet our Mayor, Todd Johnson!

Mayor Johnson has a lifelong commitment to serving the Pierre community. He served in the U.S. Army and South Dakota National Guard before returning home, where he volunteered with the Pierre Fire Department as an Airport Rescue Firefighter and supported youth programs including Teen Court and Capital Area CASA.

Todd and his wife, Teresa (Ulmen) Johnson, a Pierre native and teacher in the Pierre School District, raised five children, all graduates of T.F. Riggs High School.

Throughout the years, Todd has remained actively involved in the community, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club, YMCA, local schools, and Capital Area Soccer Association.

His commitment to serving others continued through his law enforcement career, which began in 2009 at the Hughes County Jail. He later served with the Hughes County Sheriff's Office before joining the Pierre Police Department in 2012, where he held roles including School Resource Officer, DARE instructor, Training Officer, and Entry Team member.

Today, Todd serves as District Safety Coordinator for the Pierre School District, helping support its mission to inspire all students to achieve their potential.

We’re grateful to have Todd’s experience, dedication, and commitment to the Pierre community on the team! 👏
