Surry's Taxidermy course teaches from the beginners to the advanced Taxidermy techniques. Several students continue to take the advance class once they have been through the complete course to further learn on the items they are not comfortable working with just yet.

Turkey class was a great success and the weeknight Fish and Small Game has started out strong. If you are looking for a Saturday class it is not too late. The Saturday class will start Sept 6th and run through Dec every other Saturday. These are the best classes to learn the fundamentals for the Deer and Duck class. Ok guys and gals it has been a while. We have been supper busy at SCCC Taxidermy. We even packed up from the Pilot Center and are now located at SCCC Elkin campus. New area that may be closer to you that have wanted to take the class. This semester we will be doing fish and small game. These are the best classes to start with because the projects are not as big. You will learn to paint with an airbrush, skin, flesh, tan and mount a bluegill, a bass, a squirrel and a life size small game. Contact the school if you are interested and get signed up. Week Night classes start 8-20-25 and the every other Saturday class starts 9-6-2025.

Surry Community College is offering Taxidermy classes at the Elkin Center, starting in August!

Two taxidermy classes focusing on Small Game and Fish will be held, one during the week and another on the weekend. The classes are offered August 20 – October 22, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and September 6 – December 20, every other Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tuition for these classes is $198 each.

A taxidermy class focusing on Turkey Mounts will be held only on Saturdays from August 9 – August 23 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tuition is $86. The spring taxidermy classes will focus on deer heads and waterfowl.
