The School of Arts and Sciences is hosting an alumni tailgate before the Rutgers vs. USC Big Ten game on Saturday, Sept. 19, and we'd love to see you there.

The tailgate is open to alumni of SAS and our legacy schools: Douglass College, Livingston College, Rutgers College, and University College. Graduates from every decade are welcome.

Rutgers professor Shantee Rosado is breaking down the part of Love Island USA that gets way more complicated than “just exploring” ☀️🏝️🎥

Because when everyone is told to keep their options open, who actually gets the freedom to explore without being judged differently for it?

Rosado, a professor in Africana Studies and Latino and Caribbean Studies at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, examines how race, gender, desirability, and double standards shape what happens inside the villa.

How should America's 250th be remembered? Two women from Rutgers are answering that question for all of New Jersey.

Linda Caldwell Epps, a Douglass College alumna and Rutgers trustee, and Kristin O'Brassill-Kulfan, assistant professor of history in the School of Arts and Sciences, co-chair the RevolutionNJ advisory council, which is guiding the state's commemoration of the American Revolution's 250th anniversary.

They've spent six years making sure the story told in 2026 is honest and complete.

That includes the famous moments, like Washington's crossing of the Delaware, alongside lesser-known lives such as Cudjo Banquante, an enslaved Newark man who fought in the war and later became Newark's first documented businessman of African descent.

After being expelled from high school, Alister Martin worried he might never go to college. Today, the Harvard Medical School-trained physician is the newly appointed Commissioner of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
It all started with a second chance at Rutgers and the support of ODASIS, where Dr. Martin (’10) said he was given the foundation to reach his dreams.

Game 3 at the Garden has a Rutgers connection. 🏀

“You can feel the buzz, feel the vibe.”

That’s how Rutgers Hall of Famer and former Knick Hollis Copeland, Rutgers College ’78, remembers Madison Square Garden.

He and fellow Rutgers Hall of Famer James Bailey, Livingston College ’79, helped make history in Scarlet before both went on to play for the New York Knicks.

As the Knicks return home for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the former Scarlet Knights are reflecting on New York basketball, Rutgers pride and the energy only the Garden can bring.

From the Banks to the Garden, this Finals moment runs through Rutgers.
