The Center provides opportunities for all students to receive a culturally diverse and enriching educational experience.

The Paul Robeson Cultural Center (PRCC) is a Rutgers University unit that fosters positive relationships of an academic, cultural and humanitarian nature within the University and surrounding communities. In the Spring of 2005, the Center was a recipient of the University's annual Human Dignity Award in recognition of its efforts to provide multicultural education to the Rutgers community. The PRC

C offers programs showcasing the contributions of African-Americans to American culture and the international community through literature, science, activism and the arts. The Center was established in 1967 in response to the challenge of providing a supportive atmosphere to increasing numbers of African-American students entering Rutgers University. In 1972, the Center was renamed in honor of Rutgers' esteemed alumnus Paul Robeson.

For many college students, navigating academics, personal responsibilities, and life’s challenges can feel overwhelming. No one should have to carry those burdens alone.
The PRCC Mentorship Program is built on the belief that vulnerability is not weakness, but a pathway to connection, encouragement, and resilience. Through meaningful relationships with peers and mentors, students gain a supportive community where they can share their experiences, receive guidance, and grow together.
Because healing, success, and wellness are stronger when we don’t have to face them alone. 🫶🏾

PRCC & Me is a relationship-centered mentorship and leadership initiative designed specifically FOR Rutgers students, BY Rutgers students!

While Rutgers offers many career and academic mentoring opportunities, our research found that students were looking for consistent relationships, emotional support, accountability, and a stronger sense of belonging.

Our program addresses those needs through a three-tier mentorship model where alumni and professionals mentor upperclassmen, upperclassmen mentor newer students, and everyone grows together.

Programming is built around three pillars: Life Readiness & Leadership, Identity & Social Navigation, and Emotional Wellness Support, recognizing that student success depends on practical skills, a strong sense of self, and emotional well-being.

In addition to preparing students for graduation, PRCC & Me develops confident leaders who remain connected to one another, and ultimately return to mentor the next program cohort… It’s not just a mentorship program, it’s a community that grows with students throughout their college experience!

The PRCC and MEntorship Program provides mentorship rooted in African and Black diasporic mentoring models, and is OPEN TO ALL!

From Black literary traditions and diasporic storytelling to environmental justice and cultural movements, these courses invite students to engage with powerful texts, histories, and ideas from across the Black world.
