The Kansas Association of Historians is pleased to announce that we will host a virtual conference on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 8:30am to 4:45pm. Here's how the conference will work. We have invited student presenters accepted for the cancelled 2020 conference to present virtually this year. Their papers are published on the conference website and are available for attendees to read in advance. On the day of the conference, we will have sessions in the morning via Zoom where student presenters will discuss their work and moderators will lead a discussion of the students' research.

The afternoon sessions will consist of two round-table sessions: one on teaching in the Covid age and the other on how historians address and interpret issues of racial injustice in Kansas and U.S. history. These round-tables will also be hosted on Zoom.

Due to extreme temperatures and windchill expected, the campus of Pittsburg State University will be closed Tuesday, February 16. Unless otherwise notified, all campus buildings will be closed except for Gibson Dining Hall. Minimizing the time our grounds crew spends outside clearing snow is important, and our utility providers have asked us to scale back usage given the load on their systems. Staying closed means no minimal traffic on campus, which enables our grounds crew to prepare for Wednesday more quickly, and enables us to throttle back our heat system to save resources.

All in-person, on-campus instruction is suspended on Tuesday. However, remote learning activities may continue for online, hybrid, and hyflex courses, and in-person courses may shift to online activities if faculty included a provision for campus closure/inclement weather in their syllabi. Students have been instructed to check their syllabi, watch for emails or Canvas notifications from instructors, and to reach out directly to instructors if they have questions.
