The public is invited to enjoy an evening of music at the "Bolling with Friends" Summer Chamber Concert on Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

This unique performance will showcase the music of French composer Claude Bolling, celebrated for his innovative fusion of jazz and classical styles. The program will feature a talented ensemble of Pittsburg State University alumni, faculty, and students.

Performers include Pitt State graduates who are now music educators: Irene Diaz Gill (cello), Ramiro Miranda (violin), Isaac Hernandez (piano), and Daniel Warlop (drums). They will be joined by student Joaquin Miranda on bass.

The event is free and open to the public.

PARAGUAY: Strengthen Your Academic English Skills This July!

PARAGUAY: Want to develop the skills to read critically, think analytically, and write effectively for academic and professional contexts? Join this 3-week university-level English Composition course, which takes a laboratory approach to problems in writing and reading.

Meet one of our Graduate Research Assistants, Rinu John! Rinu has been with the Center for Reading for almost two years.

Rinu grew up in Dubai and later moved to India during her junior and senior years of high school, where she completed her undergraduate studies in psychology. What brought Rinu to Pittsburg State University was “the strong clinical psychology program and the opportunity to experience a completely new environment and culture.”

One of her favorite parts about working for the Center for Reading is seeing how all of the pieces come together to help answer questions, give families a clearer understanding of their child, and provide guidance on what support may help moving forward. “Moving here was definitely a big change, but it has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences for me.”

Fun fact: Before graduate school, Rinu worked with children with autism and ADHD in a school readiness program in Dubai.
