Professor Sarah Wallace, Duquesne University; collaborator Elena Donoso Brown; Pitt CSD PhD Student Candace van der Stelt; MS SLP Pitt alumna Briana Patterson; MS SLP alumna Jacquelyn Stochel; and Pitt alumna Samantha Kimbis published a new paper called "The Experience of People with Acquired Brain Injury with Home Exercise Programs: A Qualitative Descriptive Study" in the Disability and Health Journal.

The article is available here: https://authors.elsevier.com/a/1nf-h6uM4nxQqK This investigation was supported by funding from Encompass Health's Therapy Grant. The findings provide valuable insight into the experience of people using home programs post acquired brain injury that can assist clinicians in maximizing benefit from home rehabilitation programs.

was well-represented last week at the 2026 Annual Rehabilitation Research Retreat! Pictured: Research Associate Professor, Dr. Lea Sayce, lead a talk titled "Deriving precision medicine targets for voice disorders: mapping tissue level changes to fluid structure interaction models", and Associate Professor, Dr. Samantha Hauser, a talk titled "Precision Diagnostics for Sensorineural Hearing Loss".

Additionally, Associate Professors Dr. Mandy Hampton Wray and Dr. Will Evans led breakout sessions in their research areas, and Dr. Evans gave a talk titled "Developing a social gaming digital therapeutic for aphasia".

Pleased to share a new scoping review in The Laryngoscope, first-authored by CSD doctoral student Ekaterina (Katia) Bruno. Across 12 studies (610,213 patients), they found evidence of both new-onset and worsening OSA following ACDF. Proposed contributors and directions for future work were also discussed.

Big congratulations to Suheyla Yoksuloglu, MA-SLP Class of 2027, on her selection for ASHA’s Student Leadership Program (MSLP)! Suheyla earned a spot in this competitive, limited-cohort program and will spend six days at the ASHA Convention in Indianapolis this November learning and connecting with master’s, AuD, and PhD students from programs across the country. We’re so excited to see what comes next for her!
