So proud of our honors students who presented their research at the NRHC Conference in Albany. Amanda Olachea built her own AI model to study bias. Yuliana Perez educated college students on hidden salt in their diets. MC Cadavillo studied the effects of caffeine on academic performance. Even our own Dr Radford presented her beautiful pysanky Easter eggs at the art show.

This weekend was all about giving back. On Friday, members of the DUNY Honors Program participated in Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Then on Saturday, students headed to Nee Rochelle with Monroe College to help clean up the beach for the summer season.

The DUNY Honors Program participated in two events with our honors friends at Monroe College. In March, Dr Radford took some students to the Orchid Show at the New York Botanical Gardens. Then in April, Dr DelliPizzi took two students to Glen Island Park in New Rochelle for a park clean-up. Thanks fo Prof. MacDonald for organizing these events.

The Honors Program would like to thank Mr Ted Doering and his staff for hosting us at the Motorcyclopedia Museum and Umbra Soundstages in Newburgh, NY. The museum has a large collection of Indian Motorcycles and even a motorcycle built and signed by Billy Joel! Students and faculty also had the opportunity to tour the one of the soundstages that was actively being constructed for an upcoming TV series. An amazing time was had by all.

After a brief hiatus, we are back, but now as the DUNY Honors Program!!! We kicked off the academic year by welcoming our new students at convocation, followed by an orientation session. In September, we welcomed back all students and faculty with our ever popular fall ice cream social. On Thursday, the Honors Program participated in the University’s first ever Trunk or Treat, which was a smashing success. Thanks to all the students who volunteered to man our trunk and give out candy to all the children.
