Center on Race & Social Problems Pursuing Insight, Harmony, & Justice.

The University of Pittsburgh established the center in 2002 to help lead America further along the path to social justice by conducting race-related research, mentoring emerging scholars, and disseminating race-related research findings and scholarship. CRSP is multidisciplinary in its approach and multiracial in its focus and was the first race-related research center to be housed in a school of

social work. The center focuses on race-related social problems in the following seven areas: Education, Health, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Economics, Inter-Race Relations, and Families, Youth, & the Elderly.

The Building a Beloved Community Champion Awards celebrates individuals, students, and organizations whose work advances equity, inclusion, and the creation of a more compassionate, just, and connected community. All members of the Pittsburgh community are welcome to submit a nomination/be nominated. Winners will be recognized at the Building a Beloved Community Summit on November 16, 2026, at the University of Pittsburgh Alumni Hall. The nomination deadline is October 5th, 2026.

Artists and community members are invited to explore rare collections from Archives & Special Collections and the Frick Fine Arts Library, view current exhibits in the Hyland Gallery, and take part in creative activities—from letterpress printmaking to button-making—all inspired by this year's theme of "home."

No library, archives, or makerspace experience required. Free and open to all.

Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh is a collaboration between the Carnegie Museums, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh, 1Hood Media, and the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.

Join us for the 2026 AAPI Flourishing Symposium, bringing together researchers, clinicians, students, and community partners to advance AAPI mental health and well-being. The program will feature keynote presentations, emerging research, student presentations, interdisciplinary panel discussions, and community resource booths.

Speakers and collaborators from organizations including Stanford University, the University of Georgia, the University Counseling Center, Duquesne Light, and other academic and community organizations will join us throughout the day.
