The Writing Program at the University of Pittsburgh

The Writing Program at the University of Pittsburgh Pitt Writers is a dynamic community of writers in all forms, styles, and genres.

Our three-year MFA program, directed by Jeanne Marie Laskas, offers tracks in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Pitt’s MFA program also supports a digital literary journal, Hot Metal Bridge, edited by its graduate students; hosts a weekly graduate student reading series, SpeakEasy; and welcomes numerous visiting writers through the Pittsburgh Contemporary Writers Series. We are particularly proud o

f our partnership with Longform.org - a site that recommends the best longform narrative journalism. Since the partnership began, MFA students have held editorial and podcasting internships with the site, and the co-founders recorded a live podcast with New York Times editor Joel Lovell that has been listened to nearly 30,000 times. This is just one of the many ways Pitt embraces and supports innovative writing. More about Longform: http://longform.org/
