After Graduation, final grades, and the end of the Spring semester, the work at CLAS definitely does not slow down.

This is just one week of meetings, programming, collaborations, planning, problem-solving, and a lot of coffee—all built on months of preparation behind the scenes. We work hard, enjoy the work, and are excited for everything ahead.

Stay tuned for what we are doing this summer and what is coming for Academic Year 2026–2027.

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) at University of Pittsburgh in partnership with UNISINOS, hosts twice a year a group of final-year medical students and a faculty instructor from Brazil.
🇧🇷🇺🇸

Their visit creates meaningful opportunities to engage with U.S. medical professionals while fostering dialogue about the similarities and differences between the healthcare systems in Brazil and the United States. 🇧🇷🇺🇸

Beyond medicine, the program also encourages conversations about the current political, social, and immigration realities affecting communities. Visiting another country is also about understanding its people, culture, challenges, and everyday realities. These exchanges create opportunities for learning, empathy, and global connection that go far beyond the classroom. 🌎

A special thank you to our incredible partners and collaborators: University Center for International Studies (UCIS), University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (its many departments), University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, UPMC (its many departments), Frontline DIGNiTY, CORE, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pitt’s Nationality Rooms and all of the individual speakers, healthcare professionals, faculty, staff, and everyone who helped make this exchange possible—thank you for your generosity, time, and commitment to global learning and collaboration. ❤️

Walls may change, rooms may be renewed, and spaces may look different… but the memories, collaborations, friendships, laughter, and moments we shared together will always remain part of CLAS. 💙💛

As we begin this new chapter, we carry with us the heart of everything that made this space special. We cannot wait to welcome you back after August 2026 to visit our newly renovated home, create new memories, and continue building community together.

Thank you for being part of our story; onto the next chapter.
