Centralized in 1946, the Pittsford Central School District is one of the top school districts in the county, the state and the nation. The 30 square miles that comprise the school district include portions of the towns of Pittsford, Perinton, Penfield, Victor, Mendon and Brighton. The district's programs, staff and curriculum are considered among the best available in schools anywhere. Over 1,150

employees including teachers, administrators, and support staff provide quality services for an enrollment of approximately 6,040 students in nine school buildings.

Today we celebrate Labor Day. Tomorrow we celebrate our students on their first day of school! Did you know that Labor Day has its roots in the labor movement of the late 1800s. The first celebration took place in New York City in 1882, and by 1894, President Grover Cleveland signed legislation making the first Monday in September a national holiday. Labor Day celebrates the generations of Americans whose work helps build stronger communities and a brighter future.

Superintendent Cutaia welcomed employees back at All-Staff Opening Day and highlighted the community-wide input that helped shape Pittsford Schools’ new Strategic Plan that will be finalized in October. Board of Education President Sarah Pelusio and PDTA President Stephanie Warchol shared words of gratitude and inspiration, and Mendon High School College/Career Center Coordinator Lashanda Mccadney brought the house down with an incredible live musical performance to close out the morning!
