Serving Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado and Tuolumne counties.

Stretching from the foothills above the Sacramento Valley through rugged mountains to Lake Tahoe, south through the wine country of the foothills of Amador and Calaveras Counties to the edges of Tuolumne County, the "Golden Counties" of California have a terrain as diverse as their population. The pioneering spirit that drew the gold seekers of yesterday still thrives among our residents. Our counties remain lands that are rich in opportunity and continue to prosper through their people.

The Glassy Winged Sharpshooter poses an immediate and serious threat to El Dorado County grape growers. If you've purchased a grape vine from Costco, please see this message from El Dorado El Dorado County Department of Agriculture, Weights, & Measures

05/27/2026

The Sacramento County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office is issuing an urgent public alert regarding grapevine plants sold at Costco Wholesale stores in Sacramento County infested with the glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS), an invasive insect that poses a serious threat to California’s vineyards.

Between April 21, 2026, and May 21, 2026, Costco Wholesale locations received multiple shipments of grapevines from Burchell Nursery, Inc., located in Fresno County. All life stages of GWSS have been detected on these shipments across multiple counties, including Sacramento, Sonoma, Marin, Solano, Yolo and others.

Blackstone Community Clubhouse
1461 Blackstone Parkway
El Dorado Hills, CA

About the Event

You don’t have to live in the South of France to enjoy Lavender. In our Mediterranean climate, Lavender is a beautiful and fairly drought tolerant and pest resistant garden plant, with a wide variety of specimens in many colors and sizes. Add to that its fragrance and culinary use and you have a plant worth exploring. Join us as we discuss All About Lavender: botany, how to plant, care for, harvest and use. We’ll also teach you to propagate lavender to take home with you.

Registration requested but not required. Register by filling out the survey form on our webpage.
