The official page for the Delta Alpha Chapter at SUNY Plattsburgh. We were founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1912.

We are a recognized Chapter at SUNY Plattsburgh of the National Organization Theta Phi Alpha. SUNY Plattsburgh's Delta Alpha Chapter was installed by 46 dedicated women in May, 2013. We are focused on six core values:

Our mission is to create close comradeship, to advance educational, social and philanthropic interests and leadership training; to encourag

e spiritual development and adherence to the highest moral standards; and to promote lifelong bonds of friendship. Our organization provides sisterhood, life long friendships, service, opportunities and connections, scholarship, and much much more! We are a dedicated group of women who hold various positions throughout the campus community in organizations such as: Autism Speaks, Hillel, Student Association, Rugby and various honor societies as well as the honors student association. We strive to reach goals of community service and philanthropy because as much as we want to succeed at our academics we enjoy giving back as well. We fundraise for our national philanthropies as well as give back locally to those who otherwise do not have food and shelter. Our Official Colors: Silver, Gold and Blue

Lastly, we have two main philanthropies:

Glenmary Home Missioners: who provide help in poor areas of America. They hand out food, clothing and provide medical care to those who are in need. Under Glenmary Home Missioners a two week summer camp is provided called Camp Friendship. Theta Phi Alpha helps provide the children of Camp Friendship a full second week of camp through its fundraising efforts throughout the nation. These children are poor and recommended by either social workers or teachers to attend the camp. Without our help they would otherwise not have the chance to go. For many of them, this is their first real chance to just have fun and be kids! The House that Theta Phi Alpha Built; this philanthropy was founded in 1993 and the goal of The House that Theta Phi Alpha Built is to help the homeless in anyway possible, it seeks to help homes, shelters and revitalization projects. This gives us the chance to help our community along with people all over the country.

This past semester, our sister, Olivia had the incredible opportunity to travel to Hawaii, and STUDY A SEMESTER ABROAD!

While in Honolulu…
“In my free time, my friends and I would travel the island to different beaches to cliff jump, snorkel, and swim! I would also do so many activities like concerts, camping, hiking, volunteering, and visiting the humane society!”

“My experience studying abroad in Hawaii was very interesting, and I feel that it helped me gain new ideals to live by as a person. I gained a new perspective on how to see the world, and would like to implement these principles into my life moving forward. I met many great friends from all over the world. They made Hawaii come alive for me, and the memories I made with them will be the greatest gift I take from Hawaii. Studying at UHM was fantastic; my professors genuinely cared, and our class seminars truly engaged and inspired me. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such an impactful study abroad experience, and I am grateful to have a sisterhood to come back to that is excited to hear all of my stories and experiences from Hawaii.” - 🤙

Today’s Senior Spotlight goes to our wonderful Emily Benick! 💞

Emily is a Psychology major with an HDFR minor who joined Theta Phi with the Alpha Beta class in Fall 2025. Her leadership roles within the chapter include Senior Representative, and outside of Theta Phi, Emily has been Treasurer of ODK Honor Society and Treasurer of Psi Chi Honor Society!

What have you gained with your time in Theta Phi?
“I joined theta phi because I felt so incredibly welcomed by everyone. I’ve known Theta Phi since spring 2024, when i went to my first event in mason hall (a painting event). Since joining Theta Phi, I have gained a passion for community service and an expansive sisterhood!! After graduation, I plan on joining the alumnae association to gain even more siblings :)”

Advice to younger sisters?
“when you are invited to something spontaneous, ATTEND IT (if you can)!!! you will be so happy you made those memories”
