LT-101 - Foundations of Library & Info Services - 3 units

This course provides an introduction and overview of the missions, services, operations, and staffing of libraries and information centers. The tools and terminology of library services, the library technician's role in the delivery of services, and strategies for successful job placement are emphasized. The course also explores current library issues and trends, as well as the relationship of libraries to the communities and populations they serve.
LT-104 - Intro to Organization & Management - 3 units
9/8/2025 - 12/12/2025 - Meets the following Wednesdays 6-7:30pm via Zoom: 9/10, 9/24, 10/8, 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/10
An introductory course for library paraprofessionals on the basic theories, principles, concepts and procedures of bibliographic control, including descriptive cataloging, classification, subject analysis, physical processing, and bibliographic maintenance. Emphasis will be placed on print monographs, current Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, MARC 21 format, Library of Congress and Dewey classification and LC Subject Heading.
LT-111 - Foundations of Early Literacy in Storytimes - 2 units
9/22/2025 - 12/13/2025 - Partially online course with required on-campus meetings 10-11:50 AM on the following Saturdays: 9/30, 10/7, 11/4, 11/18 and 12/2
This course is an introduction to storytelling in the library, classroom, home, and other settings. Various types, formats, and techniques of storytelling will be explored. Practice in presenting and evaluating a variety of stories will also be included.
LT-121 - Information Literacy & Research Skills - 1 unit

This course presents the research strategies and skills to successfully find, retrieve, evaluate and use information in various formats. Library skills, research methods, and information technology literacy are covered including the ethical and legal aspects of information use and the critical thinking skills necessary to conduct effective college research.
LT-296 - Occupational Work experience Education in LT - 2 units

Check the LT Program Internship Directory for a suitable Work Experience placement. You will need to contact employers directly and register for LT-296 after you have already found a placement. You are welcome to find your own placement not included in our directory, as well. Review and share Information for Supervisors and Potential Supervisors to make sure the placements meets the LT-296 criteria. Before the semester begins you will receive orientation information and guidance about where and how to get started. The internship schedule and details will remain between you and your supervisor, while the class portion will include setting goals, reporting back, and completing specific assignments according to due dates.
