Lakeland University Community Service Lakeland's Student Life provides a chance for you to grow as an individual, as a leader, and as a community member through service opportunities.

Lakeland University strives to provide community service opportunities for students, both throughout campus and in the community surrounding Lakeland University. We stress the importance of Service Learning in Higher Education, and encourage our students to volunteer in their communities. Volunteer opportunity at Oostburg Senior Dining:

The Sheboygan County Senior Dining Program is in need of a friendly, outgoing person to manage the Senior Dining Site held in the Oostburg Civic Center at 215 North 8th Street. This group of approximately ten seniors meets for a nutritious meal and socialization every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Food is catered and delivered to the facility. The site manager is responsible for the light duties of overseeing and assisting the seniors in preparing the site for the meal, serving and cleaning up afterward. In addition, there is a short, thirty-minute weekly program, activity or Bingo before each meal which is also overseen by the manager.

This is an interesting and fun job, with good training and support from our staff.

For more information or to apply, please contact Kaylie at the Sheboygan County Aging and Disability Resource Center: 467-4100.

Lakeland College will again partner with Be The Match to host a donor registry event in Bossard Hall on April 16 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Be The Match is a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to finding bone marrow donors for patients with blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join the ever growing list of potential donors. All you have to do is answer a simple round of questions regarding health history, followed by a DNA cheek swab. There is no actual donating done at this event. The process takes 10-15 minutes and is completely free and painless.

Join Lakeland College in saving lives and become a possible match for a patient in need of a bone marrow transplant!

A great event at Lakeland College!

Snow did not stop students, staff, and supporters as they joined together in a silent walk for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. "How can you not walk on a day like this?" said Lakeland College's President Daniel Eck. "It's a great opportunity for everyone at the college to get together and actually think about what it [Martin Luther King Jr. Day] means."
