ISU Dental Hygiene was well represented at ADHA in Fort Worth! 🦷🧡

We loved catching up with Matthew Bradley, a current student in our accelerated AAS/AS accelerated track to an MS in dental hygiene and member of ADHA’s Advocacy Advisory Committee, and Peggy Lelesi, one of our graduate alumni!

Matthew presented “Maintaining Professional Standards, Autonomy, and Making the Most of Your Career.” We were also proud to have two additional graduate alumni presenting this week: Annette Smith with “Y’all, It’s Inflammatory: Autoimmune Diseases and Oral Health” and Toni McLeroy with “Saddling Up for Prevention: Winning Hearts Early in Dental Hygiene Students."

ISU's current department chairperson and ADHA's Executive Board committee member , Dr.Leciel Bono, presented "The Profession’s Pulse: The Heart of Hygiene in Crisis Leadership."

Growing, learning, and strengthening our team! 🦷🧡

Our Dental Hygiene faculty and staff recently completed DISC Assessment and Conflict Management training, another way we’re investing in collaboration, communication, and excellence for our students and program!

A big thank you to Dean Tom Wadsworth and Renae Williams for leading us in Conflict Management training and to Angie Lion for leading our DISC training.

Dentists Needed — Help Educate the Next Generation of Dental Hygienists!

The Idaho State University Department of Dental Hygiene is seeking licensed Idaho dentists to serve as supervising dentists in our clinical program. We’re looking for dentists who enjoy mentoring students, sharing their expertise, and giving back to the profession and community.

RESTORATIVE CLINIC
📅 Wednesday | 1:00–5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities include patient assessment and diagnosis of restorative needs, observing local anesthesia, preparing teeth for restorations, and supervising students as they place restorations.

PREVENTIVE CLINIC
📅 Tuesday | 8:00–11:30 a.m. or 1:00–4:30 p.m.
📅 Thursday | 8:00–11:30 a.m.
Responsibilities include consultation on patient care, observing local anesthesia, limited dental exams, addressing urgent dental concerns, and assisting students with radiographic interpretation.

Dentists may commit to one or multiple clinic sessions. This is a rewarding opportunity to mentor future dental hygienists, contribute to the profession, support oral health education in Idaho, and stay involved in education without a large time commitment.
