“I believe research also provides vital professional skills that will only enhance your marketability. Skills such as project management, data analysis, coding, medical terminology, as well as hands-on lab procedural experiences can be learned while being involved with biological research.“
As a biology student at Cal Poly Pomona, Maya Shattuck ’22 took student involvement to the next level. She was a part of many wonderful organizations here on campus, including but not limited to the Pre-Medical Student Association, Research Scholars Association, Kellogg Honors College, and Projects Hatchery. These organizations and clubs have helped Maya to discover her passion for mentoring others and leadership, especially in the field of healthcare. Her research under her mentor, Dr. Juanita Jellyman, was a vital part of her academic journey.
