Did you know that shelter club has a pet supply donation bin? It’s located by the front door of the VMC!

With the Street Dog Coalition Community Clinic around the corner, we’re looking for donations to distribute to pets of the homeless and housing-insecure. If you have any new or lightly used pet items, we can put them to good use! 🐱🐶🐰

It’s time to introduce our final club officer: Paxton Hartman! She’s serving as SC-ASV’s Shelter Liaison and Foster Outreach Coordinator! 🐶

Paxton is very active as an animal foster and currently has three permanent pet residents: Mavis, Froggy, and Otis. She’s a firm believer that a loving, transitional home can be a pivotal moment for shelter animals and their futures. As an SC-ASV officer, she aspires to help others fall in love with shelter medicine and forge new relationships with the community and surrounding shelters!

We hope Block 4/8 has been treating you all well! It’s time to introduce SC-ASV’s Treasurer, Kaitlyn Wilkerson! 🐹

Kaitlyn was raised in California’s Central Valley California and spent most of her time through high school and undergrad working on farms, getting clinical experience at a small animal/exotics clinic, and volunteering for shelters. She especially loved to care for and help rehome exotic animals that ended up in shelters. She has a huge soft spot for rescue pets, especially seniors! Kaitlyn currently has two rescue dogs, two rescue cats, and two adorable hairless guinea pigs.

Andrea graduated for California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Her love for shelter medicine stems from her interest in One Health and experience volunteering with various animal rescues and rehabilitation centers across Southern California. Andrea is an avid outdoor-enthusiast and enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking, painting landscapes, and walking her two rescue cats, Thyme and Sage.

We hope Week 26 is treating you all well! It’s time to introduce SC-ASV’s Secretary: Tram Do!

Tram was born & raised in Vietnam, and moved to the US when she was 15. She graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS in Biology in 2019. Although she originally started out as an architectural engineering major, volunteering with the Westminster Adoption Group made her fall in love with veterinary medicine and change her career. Since then, Tram has interned with Community Network and worked in a small animal general practice. Outside of vet med, Tram loves to sketch, paint, go hiking, eat good food, and hang out with her two dogs: Rum & Boogie!

We hope you all enjoyed your well-deserved spring break! It’s time to introduce our Vice President, Serena Perez! 🐹

Serena is originally from Orange County and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS in Biology in 2021. She likes to spend her free time binge watching shows and reading! Serena’s interests within vet med are public health and how shelter medicine contributes to it. Most of her veterinary experiences thus far have been in small animal GP and exotics, where she has grown to love pocket pets.
