Cal Poly Pomona CIS Cal Poly Pomona Department of Computer Information Systems Fan Page Originally known as the Data Processing Department.

Cal Poly Pomona's CIS program was established in 1969 and is the oldest business-oriented four-year degree program in the nation. This program was recognized as the "Best Four-Year CIS Degree Program" in 1988 by the Data Processing Management Association and currently has over 1,000 students. There is about a 50/50 mix of business (Accounting, Managerial Finance, International Business Management, and so on) and actual computing-related courses.

The High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA) is hosting a student poster presentation at their annual conference August 29th to the 31st in Summerlin, Nevada. We invite full-time undergraduate and graduate students to submit poster presentations on research and work in the field of cyber security, information assurance, eDiscovery and computer forensics. For the first 10 students whose poster presentation is accepted, they will receive FREE conference registration for all 3 days (a $425 value). In addition, research posters are eligible for a $500 award. Students are responsible for the cost of travel and accommodations. HTCIA International Conference 2016 is a great opportunity for students to connect with cyber security and computer forensics professionals from around the world. Andrew Macintosh, founder of Poly Founders, currently Acquisition Marketing at Electronic Arts in Bay area, presented "human startup" - the concept revolves around treating yourself as a startup, finding ways to solve your own problems, and creating value.

Ashish Hingle, CIS and Kellogg Honor student, presented his research in content delivering website analysis at the 3rd Annual Student Research Conference today. He and faculty advisor Dr. Sonya Zhang looked into how websites like CNN.com have changed in the past decade, specially in content, marketing and monetization. This research study gets initiated thanks to the CIS Wagner fund.
