💀 SC4's Makeup class got a little... bone-chilling.

Students started by studying anatomy and somehow ended up wearing skulls on their heads. 😂

A huge thank you to our Biology Department for inspiring this lesson, and a special shout-out to instructor Stewart Reed for helping bring science and creativity together in such a unique and memorable way.

And before anyone asks... these are resin models, not real human remains! 💀

Press Release: St. Clair County Community College Hosts Holocaust Educational Exhibit

PORT HURON, MI — St. Clair County Community College (SC4) is welcoming visitors to a Holocaust Educational Exhibit designed to provide an immersive and reflective learning experience about the Holocaust, the lives impacted by it, and the importance of remembering history.

The exhibit features personal stories and profiles of Jewish individuals who survived the Holocaust, those who lost their lives, and courageous individuals who risked their own safety to help Jewish families during this devastating period in history.

“Education and remembrance are essential to understanding the consequences of hatred, discrimination and indifference,” said Sarah Rutallie, Chief of Staff at SC4. “This exhibit gives our students, employees and community members an opportunity to engage with history in a meaningful way, remember the lives that were lost, and reflect on the importance of compassion, courage and standing up against hatred.”

A key component of the exhibit is an immersive concentration camp experience. Participants receive a name tag representing the identification numbers assigned to many Jewish people during the Holocaust. The activity is intended to help visitors better understand the dehumanization and loss of individual identity experienced by those imprisoned in concentration camps.

A dedicated children's memorial room focuses on the experiences of children during the Holocaust. Through individual stories, visitors learn about children who survived as well as the many young lives that were lost. The space provides an opportunity for visitors to reflect on the profound impact the Holocaust had on children and families.

Additional educational and interactive elements include:
• N**i Book Burnings: A display exploring the suppression of ideas and free expression, accompanied by a book exhibit.
• Build a Star of David: An interactive activity that allows visitors to create a Star of David to take home as a remembrance item.
• Journal Reflection Station: Visitors can respond to prompts focused on hope, kindness, resilience and the importance of standing against hatred.
• Historical Polling Display: Visitors can explore public opinion research from the era, including examples of historical polling data, and participate in a modern interactive poll through a QR code. The activity encourages visitors to compare perspectives and consider the role of civic engagement.

The exhibit is intended to educate visitors about the Holocaust, honor the memories of those affected, and inspire thoughtful reflection on the values of compassion, courage, tolerance and human dignity.

The exhibit will open on Monday, September 14, 2026, and run through the end of the month in the Fine Arts Building on SC4’s Campus. The galleries are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Community members, educators, students and families are encouraged to visit the exhibit and take time to engage with its stories, displays and reflection activities.
