Hello TRIO!

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Lindsay, and I will be the new TRIO-SSS advisor. I am so excited to meet you all!

Here are a few details to help you get to know me a little:

I attended St. Clair County Community College! I was dual-enrolled with Croswell-Lexington High School in a program called CL-5. I graduated from SC4 with my associate's degree and transferred on to Central Michigan University. There, I earned my bachelor's degree in applied arts, with a focus on communication sciences and disorders. I found my way to the TRIO team this year, and I am very happy to be a part of it! A couple other quick facts about me: I adore dogs! I have one black lab currently; her name is Blaze. I also enjoy art! I am pretty bad at drawing, but I love to paint! Traveling to see different places and art is another thing I find fun! One last thing I will mention that I love is food! I am a big foodie. I love trying new cuisine, finding new recipes, and baking and cooking!

I look forward to getting to know you all more, supporting your goals, and watching you grow as individuals.

Thank you all! I am so grateful to be joining your support team!

Congratulations to TRIO Student of the Month Emily Dodson. A criminal justice major with plans to graduate from SC4 and enter the Police Academy. She hasn’t let her dyslexia stop her from becoming a successful student. With weekly appointments with her advisor Shawne, tutoring assistance and the support of the TRIO program, Emily has found a way to utilize different skills to keep her on track for a rewarding academic career. She also volunteers for Woodland Developmental Center and participates in the Unified Special Olympics.

Congratulations to TRIO Student of the Month John Criger. A liberal arts major with plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in film editing or screenwriting at Wayne State University. Without the help from the TRIO program, he would have been lost navigating college websites, figuring out tuition costs, and finding the best classes for his educational journey. Moving to a new county and starting college was uncharted territory but he knew staying home wasn’t an option. Joined PTK, survived a pandemic and stayed strong during the highs and lows of college life. He knew setting goals and getting support through TRIO would lead to something greater.

Congrats to TRIO student of the month Alex Carpenter. A criminal justice major with his sights set on becoming a Police Officer in the K-9 unit. Thankful for the available TRIO resources, tutors, and staff. Recommends SC4 and the TRIO program. The campus is full of awesome places to explore. Having professors who have worked in the field allows firsthand experience to be taught within the criminal justice program.
