On March 15-17, 1919, a group of a war-weary veterans of World War I convened in Paris with one goal: to form an organization focused on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities. Less than two months later in St. Louis, The American Legion was adopted as the organization's official name.
Thanks to all former and current members of The American Legion. Happy birthday, and thank you for your service to your nation, your communities and each other.

I am an Iraq veteran collecting data for my dissertation. My study participants are student veterans who have deployed to Iraq and/or Afghanistan. The study is looking at post deployment social support, combat experiences, resilience, and well-being.
