πŸŽ“ Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Kuhn, MSN, RN, CNE

ENMU Nursing is proud to recognize alumnus Ryan Kuhn, MSN, RN, CNE, for his continued commitment to nursing education, professional development, and lifelong learning. Ryan is currently furthering his education by pursuing his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.

As a Unit-Based Educator within a large hospital system, Ryan credits ENMU's Master of Science in Nursing program with providing the foundation for his success as a nurse educator. Through coursework focused on evidence-based teaching, curriculum design, leadership, and learner-centered education, he developed the skills necessary to support staff development, clinical training, onboarding, and professional growth among nurses.

One of Ryan's most impactful accomplishments has been the development of a comprehensive ultrasound-guided IV insertion training program. Drawing upon the knowledge and educational principles gained through the ENMU MSN program, he has helped improve procedural competency, enhance patient outcomes, and expand clinical skill sets among nursing staff.

In addition to leading employee orientations and conducting educational gap analyses, Ryan has successfully earned his Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential. He notes that ENMU's emphasis on teaching and learning principles, curriculum development, assessment, evaluation, and the nurse educator role directly contributed to his readiness for certification.

Reflecting on his journey, Ryan shares:

"Today, I'm proud to serve as an educator who not only teaches clinical skills but also fosters professional growth, critical thinking, and lifelong learningβ€”values deeply rooted in my ENMU graduate education."

We are proud to celebrate Ryan's accomplishments and look forward to seeing the impact he continues to make as a future DNP-prepared nurse leader.

πŸ’š Congratulations, Ryan!

πŸŽ“ Alumni Spotlight: Abigail Gordon, MSN, RN πŸŽ“

β€œThe ENMU MSN program prepared me for my nursing education role. As a nurse we educate our patients every day, but teaching students how to become nurses is completely different.”

Abigail Gordon currently serves as a Nursing Instructor at Clovis Community College and recently completed her first year as the Nursing Student Success Coordinator. She shared that the ENMU MSN program provided her with valuable knowledge in classroom management, teaching strategies, and understanding the psychology of students β€” all skills that continue to shape her daily interactions with nursing students.

β€œThe most valuable experiences that stayed with me at ENMU were those of balance.”

While completing the program, Abigail balanced being a full-time graduate student, mother, and new nursing faculty member. She shared that these experiences helped her better understand and support students navigating similar challenges in their own lives.

β€œAnother valuable piece was how to transition from the clinical practice nurse that I was, to the professional nurse educator I was learning to be. Without these experiences, I wouldn't be the nurse educator I am today!”

We are proud to celebrate Abigail and the impact she continues to make in nursing education and student success. πŸ’šπŸΎ

πŸŽ“ Alumni Spotlight: Martha Campos, MSN, RN πŸŽ“

β€œI earned my BSN from ENMU, and years later, I returned to pursue my MSN. Returning to ENMU was a blessing. I was familiar with the environment and trusted the instructors. Whenever I had questions, I felt comfortable asking for help.”

Martha shared that ENMU helped prepare and empower her to work as a Nurse Educator, while also surrounding her with faculty mentors who made a lasting impact on her life and career.

β€œI have deep respect and admiration for my nurse-educators. They have such rich nursing experiences.”

Martha also reflected on the encouragement she received from Mrs. Goodrich during her BSN journey:

β€œWe need more nurses, we need more educators, who's going to care for the new nurses?”

Those words stayed with her throughout her career and educational journey. She also shared gratitude for Dr. Bassett and Dr. Kuhlmann, who supported her return to school with kindness and patience, especially as English is her second language.

β€œENMU has also become a family matter. My husband and daughter have both graduated, and my niece is currently attending ENMU.”

We are proud to celebrate Martha and her dedication to nursing education, lifelong learning, and family legacy at ENMU. πŸ’šπŸΎ
