As I reflect on the Bible's historical accounts in Kings and Chronicles, I'm struck by the power of timelines to reveal growth and transformation. Our own lives are marked by seasons of progress, setbacks, and renewal. What if we viewed our personal timelines as stories of empowerment, where every step forward - whether through learning, perseverance, or resilience becomes a testament to our capacity for positive change.

Warner Pacific University is pleased to share that Douglas S. Wade has been appointed Interim President by the Board of Trustees.

Doug has brought steady, mission-driven leadership rooted in Christ throughout this season of transition. He will continue serving as EVP & CFO while guiding WPU forward with clarity and purpose.

We give thanks for the service of Dr. Brian Johnson and remain grounded in God’s plan as we live out our mission as a Christ-centered, urban, and diverse university.

The goal isn’t to keep up. It’s to let things work for you.
You’re allowed to learn slowly. That’s still embracing it.
Even Jesus walked; never rushed

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Today, we celebrate the achievements of Oregon’s Class of 2025 students who have earned the Oregon State Seal of Biliteracy—an honor recognizing proficiency in English and at least one other language.

At Warner Pacific University, we’re proud to support this commitment to biliteracy through our ¡Adelante! program, which provides tuition assistance for Spanish-fluent students pursuing careers in bilingual education. Together, we’re building a more inclusive, linguistically diverse future for Oregon’s schools.

This Father’s Day, we offer thanks.

For the fathers who raised us and the ones who stepped in.
For the men who taught with gentleness, who protected without needing praise, who gave what they could even when they were tired.
For those who show up in quiet ways, whose prayers cover their families even when words don’t.

We also hold space for grief, for absence, for longing.
For fathers we miss, fathers we hoped for, fathers we’re still learning to understand.

Today, we pray:

God, bless the fathers in every form.
Strengthen the ones still learning how to lead with love.
Heal the places where fatherhood has brought pain.
And pour peace into the hands of those who carry so much.

Let today be tender. Let it be honest.
And let love be the thread that holds it all.

Amen.

It’s a summer Friday.

The work is still here. The learning too. But something about the light feels different. Like maybe the week is exhaling a little.

Some of us are getting ready for new classes at the end of June. Some of us are resting. Some are in between.

Wherever you are today, I hope something ordinary feels a little softer.

And if you need it, may this be your reminder.
Growth isn’t always loud.
And grace can feel a lot like sunlight through leaves.

There’s a kind of wisdom in dads who can fix a faucet, find the remote, and tell a whole story with one raised eyebrow.

The ones who work all week and still show up to coach, to carry the groceries, to make pancakes shaped vaguely like dinosaurs.

The work of fathering isn’t always loud. But sometimes it is especially when there are power tools or dad jokes involved.

To the dads still learning, still laughing, still trying, thank you.
For the steadiness, the effort, the goofy dance moves when no one’s watching.

We see you. And we’re better because of it.

When I finished school, I took a step. But it was hard.

At one point, during the pandemic, everything I thought I could count on shifted. And when I came back to it, I didn’t feel ready.

Sometimes it wasn’t about finishing an assignment or getting the grade.

Sometimes it was just literally opening the laptop and facing what I didn’t know.

Letting myself be new at something. Letting myself fail. Accepting I could still try again. Learning how to be flexible, and patient. Balancing work, family, and school meant there were weeks I barely kept up.

I questioned myself more than once.
But I kept going. Even when it was slow. Even when it was lonely.

If you’re in that place now, figuring it out as you go, I see you.

That step still matters.
You’re allowed to go at your own pace. And you’re not alone.

We walk by faith, not by sight.
