For those who don't speak Spanish, we offer this article summary: Writer Marc Casanovas from the Spanish periodical La Vanguardia, Santa Fe, Argentina interviewed Food Studies Professor Jamie Picardy on her recent research with consumer knowledge of and preferences for seafood. This article highlights the results of Prof. Picardy's service-learning project, which was based in her course Food and Environment and partnered with the Gulf of Maine Research Institute (GMRI) and Sodexo USA.

Check out this great article on food waste in the Portland Press Herald! From Lisa Marie, the Food Studies Admin: I was fascinated at how the schools are "exploring the use of silverware." I'm 51 and that's all we had when I was in school! Sheesh! Looks like we're coming full circle...

Student efforts at King Middle School in Portland, which include sorting cafeteria food into five categories and using ‘compost guardians,’ reflect the state's move toward reducing that number.
