From the moment Concordia Portland’s doors opened in 1905 to the moment they will close in 2020, our mission has remained constant: we are a Christian university preparing leaders for the transformation of society. Whether it was through our human sciences, business, education programs, law school, athletics, and 3 to PhD, we have done this within a community that is motivating, evolving, and inclusive; all while being rooted in our school motto: Christi Crux Est Mihi Lux --The Cross of Christ is Light to Me.
As we prepare to go our separate ways, the staff and faculty of Concordia University-Portland want to express our immense gratitude to each and every member of our community, past and present. We especially want to thank our alumni, each a vital thread in the tapestry of Concordia’s 115-year legacy. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your educational journey. Thank you for serving alongside us, learning with us, and giving your heart to the pursuit and fulfillment of your calling. Thank you for taking on the mantle of becoming a Concordia student, telling us, yourself, and the world that you believe education can move molehills and mountains — and that both are vitally important feats.
While the path of the past few months has been difficult, we will cherish the memories, the growth, and the impact that Concordia has had. We move towards the future faithfully, confident that our students are our legacy. We will never forget you.
“The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the joy that is to come.” –Romans 8:18
May God go with you always.
