Thanks to our wonderful supporters, we have raised a total of $10,780!

Look at these smiling faces! Dean Leroy Bynum, Jr. and our school directors welcomed 17 high school and community college counselors from all around Oregon, California and Hawaii this morning. They joined us on a tour of the College of the Arts, culminating in a selfie stop with the Dean at our new Art Building -- which will be complete next month! We hope our guests had as much fun as we did!

Join us Tuesday, February 24 from 5pm to 7pm to celebrate the recipients of the 2025 Arlene Schnitzer Visual Arts Prize at a public reception at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at PSU. The 2025 award winners are graphic designer Briana Cieri (BFA Graphic
Design ‘25), multimedia artist Ame Morrison (BFA in Art Practice, Minor Film Studies,‘25), and documentary photographer Savannah Noel (BFA candidate in Art Practice, ‘25). The exhibition of their work runs from February 24 to April 25, 2026.

Attention College of the Arts students! Apply for the 2026 Andries Deinum Prize for Visionaries and Provocateurs! The Deinum Prize award is $10,000. Applications are due Friday, April 3, 2026, by 5 P.M.

Now in its eleventh award year, the Andries Deinum Prize is awarded annually to recognize and celebrate the exceptional creative potential of any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full time in a major within the College of the Arts.
Applications will be reviewed by the Deinum Prize jury in April and the winner will be notified in May. The winner will be formally recognized in June.

Scenes from last week’s very special event at KMC, titled “Ephemeral Arrangements” — a look at image making and design from the viewpoints of Clive Knights, collage artist and professor in the School of Architecture at Portland State University and Scott Clum, internationally recognized graphic designer and creative director.

The two artists reflected on their ongoing collaboration since last summer, testing their principles of image making. Both Scott and Clive spoke about the ephemeral and communal aspects of making images, and how the body perceives, interacts with and interprets the human experience through art and design.
