Fall 2027 applications are open for the MA in Critical Studies at PNCA — small seminars, dual degree options, and faculty who take your research projects seriously.

This program is for you if you’re an artist who wants theoretical frameworks for your practice, a writer who wants to publish criticism, an arts worker angling toward curatorial or leadership work, or a future PhD student building a writing sample.

Our graduates go on to curate, edit, write, teach, run programs and nonprofits, direct communications, and enter doctoral study.

••Final call for papers••

We are still accepting individual paper proposals for PNCA’s 2026 Symposium: Art, Aura, and the Algorithm.

We invite proposals from artists, writers, and scholars interested in questions like:
Can Al-generated art possess aura?
What becomes of authorship, originality, and artistic presence today?
How is aura produced, performed, or gamified online?
What new forms of creativity emerge through human-machine collaboration?

FORMAT:
We are accepting proposals for individual papers (15-20 minutes). Research, creative practice, and community-based work are all welcome. Graduate & advanced undergraduate students are especially encouraged to submit. You don’t need all the answers-just a strong question to explore.
Submission should include an abstract (300 words max), bio (100 words max), and any tech or accessibility needs. Send to [email protected]

We invite proposals from artists, writers, and scholars interested in questions like:
