The heart of the lab ❤️

QC2’s work would not be possible without our students. Their dedication, curiosity, and professionalism power everything we do—from routine testing to industry-facing projects.

This year, our student employees and interns gained hands-on experience in brewing science while contributing directly to the brewing industry. They are not just learning—they are doing meaningful work that matters.

We are incredibly proud of this team and grateful for the energy and care they bring to the lab every day.

🍻 Thank you, 2025 🍻

Thank you to the brewing community for trusting QC2 with your work this year. Our lab exists because breweries across Maine (and beyond) choose to engage with science, ask good questions, and invest in quality—and we are grateful to serve you.

In 2025, QC2 supported Maine breweries through analytical testing, method development, and quality troubleshooting, strengthening the connection between academic science and commercial brewing. Every sample analyzed reflects a shared commitment to better beer and a stronger industry.

We’re proud to be part of this community and excited to continue the work in the year ahead.

🍻 7,000 Samples and Counting! 🍻

We’re excited to share a huge milestone—7,000 samples analyzed by the QC2 Lab!

Each sample = better beer, hands-on STEM training for undergraduates, and a stronger brewing community.

Better beer: Data brewers use to improve quality & consistency.

Stronger community: Connecting local breweries, students, and innovation.

Thank you to our amazing brewers, students, and supporters who made this possible. Here’s to the next 7,000! 🙌

Nothing like an equipment shuffle to flex your muscles and problem solving skills! Truck bed too low for the loading dock? Throw some pallets in there, Bub!

These shaking incubators will be used in future research. We can’t wait to put them to work as we study fermentation, serial pitching, and yeast vitality!

👏 We couldn’t be prouder of our QC2 Brewery Interns who presented their research to their peers, mentors, and the supportive faculty, staff, and administration last week! Throughout the summer, our interns partnered with breweries across the region to tackle real-world challenges, from improving quality control to streamlining production and new product development. Along the way, they gained invaluable hands-on skills and experience that will guide them in their professional journeys.

These projects highlight not only the creativity and dedication of our interns, but also the power of collaboration between education and industry. Huge thanks to this year’s host sites: , .brew, , , and . This program wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated professionals that mentor our students! 🙏

Every sample tested and service used in our lab helps make opportunities like this possible—directly supporting the next generation of scientists. 🍻✨
