From the Lewis & Clark expedition to a groundbreaking exhibit in Philadelphia!

Lewis & Clark College alumnus Dr. Richard McCourt ’74 is co-curating Botany of Nations, a new exhibit at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University exploring the botanical discoveries of the Lewis and Clark expedition and the Indigenous knowledge connected to these plants.

In an incredible full-circle moment, Dr. McCourt also became the curator of hundreds of original plant specimens collected during the expedition itself.

The exhibit runs through February 2027 and highlights science, history, and Indigenous perspectives woven together through one of the most significant botanical collections in American history.
