Emma Stolte's historic season came to an end Thursday at the NCAA West First Round. It featured:
✅ Big Sky title in outdoor 5k (program's first-ever)
✅ Three All-Big Sky honors
✅ Three school records (indoor 800, outdoor 1,500 and outdoor 5k)

Running with the leaders through the first two laps of her heat in the women's 1,500 meters – the fastest two opening laps of the day, no less – Emma Stolte gave herself a chance to extend her historic season Thursday at the NCAA West First Round.

Emma Stolte is in!

The senior who made history as the program's first-ever Big Sky champion in the 5k added another line in the record book Thursday, becoming only the third Viking ever to qualify for the NCAA West First Round in the 1,500m.

Emma Stolte turned the 2025-26 school year into a season of rewriting the Portland State track & field record book. She added one more line item of history Thursday, becoming the first Viking since 2013 – and only the third ever – to qualify for the NCAA West First Round in the 1,500 meters.
