The SSU Football Reception Tour has come to a close, and we are grateful for the support from our communities across the region.

From 100+ supporters packing Marting's in Portsmouth, to the warm Tri-State welcome in Ashland, KY, to the Capital City showing up in Columbus, the message was loud and clear: communities are ready for Shawnee State Football.

Coach Mark Snyder, President Eric Braun, and Athletics Director Gerald Cadogan brought the vision to every room, and every room gave it right back. That energy is exactly what this program is being built on.

SSU Football came to the Capital City, and Columbus delivered.

The final stop of the SSU Football Reception Tour brought us to the Athletic Club of Columbus, where supporters joined us to formally meet Coach Mark Snyder, Shawnee State University's first-ever Head Football Coach.

Coach Snyder, President Eric Braun, and AD Gerald Cadogan laid out the vision for SSU's inaugural NCAA Division II football program. This program is bigger than Portsmouth. It's for all of Ohio.

Thank you to everyone who came out and showed up for the Bears. Fall 2028 can't come soon enough.

SSU Football is coming to the Mountain East Conference, and the Tri-State is here for it!

Stop two of the SSU Football Reception Tour brought us across the river to Ashland, KY, and we're so grateful for the warm welcome. Coach Snyder and AD Gerald Cadogan shared the vision for Shawnee State's first-ever football program, and this community brought the energy right back.

This program belongs to the entire region, and we're just getting started.

What a night in Portsmouth!

Stop one of the SSU Football Reception Tour did not disappoint. Over 100 supporters packed Marting's to welcome Coach Mark Snyder, Shawnee State University's first-ever Head Football Coach, and the energy in the room said it all. This community is READY.

Shawnee State University Foundation has established the Cheryl Bramblette Memorial Scholarship, an endowed award designed to support students pursuing degrees in early childhood education through the university’s School of Education. The scholarship will primarily benefit graduates of Portsmouth High School, with eligibility potential extended to students from surrounding counties and other education programs.

Funded by SSU alumna Sarah Bramblette, the scholarship honors the memory of her sister, Cheryl Bramblette, and their mother, Sharon Bramblette, while creating new opportunities for local students to access higher education.

“My mom always wanted this, and Cheryl never got to finish what she started. Establishing this scholarship is my way of honoring both of them, making sure Cheryl’s memory lives on and that my mother’s wish is fulfilled.”
